Kaya Vineyard & Winery - Dahlonega Square Hotel
Kaya estate wines in a chandelier-lit hotel lobby in Dahlonega, Georgia
Best known for: Estate Chardonnay sparkling wine and Bordeaux-style blends
Kaya Vineyard & Winery’s satellite tasting room inside the Dahlonega Square Hotel in Dahlonega, Georgia, puts its estate wines in a hotel-lobby setting rather than among vineyard rows. At 135 North Chestatee Street, the draw is the combination of wine tasting and the hotel’s 1880s character, chandeliers included. It suits travelers fitting a tasting into a day in town rather than making the vineyard itself the destination.
Behind the wines is the Werkheiser family, whose North Georgia estate supplies much of Kaya’s fruit. The broader portfolio spans stainless-steel Chardonnay, barrel-aged Viognier, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Two particularly distinctive bottlings are a traditional-method sparkling wine made from estate Chardonnay, with its bubbles developed through fermentation in the bottle, and Trifecta, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Merlot.
The hotel tasting room opens daily, with late-morning starts Monday through Saturday and a 1 p.m. start on Sunday. Friday and Saturday service extends to 7 p.m.; other days finish at 6 p.m. This is Kaya’s in-town tasting stop, not its ridge-top winery on Town Creek Road—the distinction matters for visitors choosing between hotel atmosphere and vineyard scenery.
