Tesnatee River Winery & Meadery
Family-owned Cleveland, Georgia farm pairing estate muscadine wines with mead from its own 1,200 beehives
Best known for: Estate muscadine wines and mead from its own honey
Tesnatee River Winery & Meadery in Cleveland, Georgia, puts two North Georgia farm products at the center of the tasting: muscadine grapes and honey. The family-owned operation traces its roots to 2020 and shares a connection with sister company Allison’s Honey. Its strongest distinction is concrete: honey from its own 1,200 Georgia beehives supplies the mead production, while estate-grown muscadines anchor the wines. These grapes are native to the Southeast, giving the winery a regional focus beyond its address.
The tasting room’s eight rotating taps make room for dry and semi-sweet muscadine wines, estate rosé, traditional honey mead, sparkling mead, and seasonal fruit mead. Mead is fermented honey rather than grape wine, so a flight offers a useful comparison between the farm’s two specialties. Cold-pressed juices give nondrinkers something beyond water, and raw honey and seasonal fruit extend the farm connection beyond the glass.
Visits center on tasting flights, with patio music and seasonal fruit picking adding reasons to linger when scheduled. The tasting room opens every afternoon, with a shorter Sunday window. Online reservations are available, and parties of nine or more arrange visits by phone.
