The Acadian Wine Company

Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot from a three-acre estate vineyard in West Grove, Pennsylvania

Best known for: Estate Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc with regional blends

Owner and winemaker Kyle Jones makes The Acadian Wine Company in West Grove, Pennsylvania, a useful introduction to Chester County wine, with estate-grown bottles alongside wines from other regional vineyards. The estate’s three-acre block holds roughly 25-year-old Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot vines across two rolling hilltops. Vineyard work centers on renewing those established trunks and filling gaps with new plants rather than starting from scratch.

The estate wines give visitors a clear place to begin: the 2023 Chardonnay comes from the property, as does The Grove, a dry Cabernet Franc with 10% Petit Verdot. Beyond the estate, the range stretches from dry Pinot Grigio grown in the Lehigh Valley American Viticultural Area to semi-sweet Vidal Blanc and sweet Moscato. Hound & Troubadour takes a different direction: equal parts Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah, aged in steel rather than oak.

Visiting can be as simple as a walk-in flight Thursday through Sunday, with wines selected at the bar and tasted at the guest’s own pace. Local artwork hangs in the tasting room, and the grounds allow full picnics in unreserved grassy areas. Local beer gives non-wine drinkers another option. For a closer look at production, guided tastings and tours start at $40 per person and require booking at least 72 hours ahead. Groups larger than eight need to contact the winery before arriving.
