Invention Vineyards

35-acre Texas Hill Country estate winery with sparkling production tours minutes from Fredericksburg

Best known for: Traditional-method sparkling and Texas estate blends

Invention Vineyards is a large working estate in the Texas Hill Country AVA, just south of Fredericksburg on Highway 16. Established in 2022 as part of Heath Family Brands, it spans more than 35 acres of vines across 11 blocks and seven varieties, including Albariño, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tannat, Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot, Ruby Red, and Tempranillo. The scale matters here: this is not a small tasting-room-first operation, but a full production winery with a 25,000-square-foot facility built for serious volume and estate fruit.

What makes Invention Vineyards stand out is that it also houses Heath Sparkling Wines' traditional-method production, with tirage line, riddling quads, and full disgorgement on site. That gives visitors something genuinely different in Texas wine country: a sparkling winery tour paired with tasting, alongside a classic guided flight from the Invention portfolio. The winemaking is led by Jason Englert, who has been with the broader Heath program since 2004 and has built one of the most decorated competition records in Texas. For travelers, the draw is straightforward: real vineyard views, a substantial winery operation, and a visit that feels more production-focused than polished-for-show. It is close enough to downtown Fredericksburg to be easy, but distinct enough to feel like its own stop rather than an overflow tasting room.
