Dichotomy Vineyards

Small-batch winemaking linking South Australia and Washington’s Yakima Valley, with a vineyard guest house

Best known for: Small-batch wines connecting South Australia and Washington State

Dichotomy Vineyards in Outlook, Washington, connects the Yakima Valley with South Australia through the work of winemakers Rosie Signer and Jarred Jenner. Their small-batch wines explore how growing location, soil, and harvest decisions change what ends up in the glass. Signer’s experience spans Italy, Washington, Oregon, and Australia’s McLaren Vale; Jenner’s roots are in the Barossa Valley, with winemaking experience extending to California, Oregon, Canada, and Austria. Together, they bring 40 vintages of experience to a project that reaches across two hemispheres. Australian wines are part of the offering, giving the Washington vineyard a connection to more than just its immediate neighbors.

The estate offers tastings Friday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Monday-through-Thursday visits available by advance appointment through Rosie at 509-643-6450. For travelers who prefer to stay among the vines rather than drive elsewhere after tasting, the Dichotomy Guest House overlooks the Yakima Valley. That combination of a vineyard stay and winemakers with experience on both sides of the Pacific gives this small operation a distinct identity.
