Bosma Estate Winery

Farmer-grown Cabernet Sauvignon and small-lot estate wines from Washington’s Rattlesnake Hills

Best known for: Single-clone Cabernet Sauvignon and small-lot estate wines

Bosma Estate Winery in Outlook, Washington, puts a farming family’s vineyard at the center of the tasting experience. Set in the Rattlesnake Hills American Viticultural Area within the Yakima Valley, the estate specializes in small batches of Bordeaux and Rhône grape varieties. Its origins lie in a growers’ debate over whether different Cabernet Sauvignon clones—variations of the same grape—actually taste different. Side-by-side plantings turn that question into the winery’s defining experiment, with varieties and clones kept separate from harvest through bottling.

The wines give red-wine drinkers plenty to explore: single-clone Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Merlot, and Sidewinder Syrah. Whites include Viognier, Chardonnay, and dry, full-bodied Roussanne; Syrah also appears as a dry rosé. The 2020 Petit Verdot earns gold at the 2026 National Small Producer Wine Invitational, while the 2022 Sidewinder Syrah holds gold from the 2025 SavorNW Wine Awards. Winemaking collaborators include father-and-son team Mike and Ryan Seal, Caleb Foster, and Pam Adkins.

Visitors taste in the tasting room or on the patio and grounds overlooking the vineyard. Standard tastings cost $20, waived with two qualifying bottle purchases; Dust Bowl Red does not count toward the waiver. Walk-ins are welcome Wednesday through Sunday, with longer hours from May through September. A separate room accommodates private tastings for six to eight guests by reservation, and groups of ten or more require advance coordination.
