Reddy Vineyards
Family-run Brownfield estate growing 34 grape varieties at 3,305 feet in the Texas High Plains
Best known for: Estate-grown Texas High Plains reds, whites and rosés
Reddy Vineyards in Brownfield, Texas, is a working vineyard and winery in the Texas High Plains AVA, with visits by appointment rather than a walk-in tasting bar. Soil scientist Dr. Vijay Reddy and his wife, Subada, are the founders behind an estate whose roots date to 1997. Their son, Dr. Akhil Reddy, leads the winery business. The appeal here is proximity to the work: vines, crush pad, tanks and barrels occupy the same property.
The 400-acre estate grows 34 grape varieties at 3,305 feet, from Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo to Touriga Nacional, Aglianico and Picpoul Blanc. Sandy loam over clay and limestone, hot days and cold nights shape the growing conditions; the nighttime cooling helps grapes retain acidity. Reddy makes estate-grown wines on-site and supplies fruit to other wineries, giving this Brownfield property a role well beyond its own bottles. Temperature-controlled stainless steel and French oak barrels serve different wines, while harvested fruit reaches processing in minutes.
Visits offer a look at the vineyard and cellar alongside a tasting, with harvest bringing the possibility of seeing grapes arrive. Appointments run Monday through Friday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., arranged through (806) 503-3533 or [email protected]. This is the production-focused stop near Lubbock—not the separate Stonewall tasting room in the Texas Hill Country.
