Deerfoot Vineyards and Winery

Third-generation Pennsylvania farm winery in Shoemakersville pairing estate Cabernet Franc with five-dollar tastings and seasonal blueberry picking

Best known for: Estate Cabernet Franc and sweet Cayuga White wines

Deerfoot Vineyards and Winery’s The Farm tasting room in Shoemakersville, Pennsylvania, puts the emphasis on wine rather than entertainment. This third-generation working farm in Berks County produces about 550 cases annually, with winemaker Dan Brown and his father, vineyard manager David Brown, handling the grapes and cellar work. Dan and his wife, Jaime Linn Brown, own the winery, in business since 2014; Jaime also creates seven of its wine labels.

The range gives dry-wine drinkers and sweet-wine fans reasons to share a tasting. Six Point is estate-grown Cabernet Franc, while Comfy Couch uses estate-grown Cayuga White in a sweet style. The sweet sparkling Blanc de Blancs, also made from Cayuga White, holds Double Gold and Best in Show for sparkling wine from the 2026 Pennsylvania Farm Show. Dry Riesling, Chambourcin, and Patriot blueberry wine made from the farm’s own berries broaden the choices. Availability rotates seasonally.

The farm tasting room opens Saturday and Sunday afternoons, noon to five, with $5 tastings covering up to 15 wines. Dogs are welcome inside and outside, the tasting room is wheelchair accessible, and guests can bring food; none is served. Seasonal outdoor seating and pick-your-own blueberries add reasons to linger. For groups of six or more, the winery recommends advance reservations.
