Bishop Estate Vineyard and Winery
Former dairy farm in Perkasie, Pennsylvania, pairing bank-barn tastings with dry reds and sweet wines
Best known for: Full-bodied dry reds, crisp whites, and sweet wines
Bishop Estate Vineyard and Winery in Perkasie, Pennsylvania, pairs a working-farm history with a tasting experience that leaves room to linger. The property dates to the 1800s and remains in the Bishop family after more than a century. Owner and winemaker Kevin grows up here when it operates as a dairy farm; its conversion to wine brings 1,000 grapevines and a new role for the historic bank barn as a tasting room.
The 21-wine selection stretches from full-bodied dry reds and crisp whites to sweeter bottles, including Applenoonie Apple Wine. Tastings offer a choice of six wines, making this a practical stop for groups whose preferences rarely agree. Some wines receive special-barrel aging, reflecting Kevin’s interest in experimenting beyond conventional styles.
The farm setting is as much a reason to visit as the tasting. Seating areas include the bank barn and the “coop,” with glasses available afterward. Weekend live music takes place on the patio or in the open field near the gazebo, moving into the barn during cold or rainy weather. Rotating food trucks round out the weekends, while Thursday-through-Saturday evening hours allow a later visit.
