Anchored Roots Vineyard & Winery

Egg Harbor, Wisconsin, winery pairing Door Peninsula estate grapes with Washington State reds

Best known for: Wisconsin cold-hardy wines and Washington-grown dry reds

Anchored Roots Vineyard & Winery in Egg Harbor, Wisconsin, connects two wine regions through owners Eric and Amy Gale: Wisconsin’s Door Peninsula and Washington State. Established in 2020, the winery draws on their combined 12 years in Washington’s wine industry. Eric brings a master’s degree in viticulture—the study of growing grapes—while Amy brings experience in tasting room management and event planning. Their 38-acre property holds the vineyard, production facility, and tasting room, half a mile off Highway 42.

The draw is the contrast in the glass: aromatic whites from Wisconsin-grown, cold-hardy grapes alongside bold, dry reds from Washington-grown fruit. Estate plantings include Marquette, Petite Pearl, Itasca, and La Crescent, plus less-familiar varieties such as Adalmiina and L’Acadie Blanc. Washington grapes come through the Gales’ connections with growers and vineyards they know firsthand. This is a useful stop for groups whose wine preferences don’t all point in the same direction.

The tasting room opens year-round, with five tastes for $15 and one tasting fee waived per bottle purchased. Bar tastings run first come, first served; larger groups coordinate ahead. Three-wine flights offer a slower-paced alternative, with lounge seating and a dog-friendly patio. Cheese, charcuterie, and sweets are available; outside food and drink stay out. Scheduled, roughly hour-long tours with Eric cost $28 and include a tasting and souvenir glass.
