Walkers Mill Vineyard & Winery
Muscadine-focused East Texas winery with seven acres of vines, woodland trails, dining, and an overnight inn
Best known for: Dry to sweet muscadine wines in East Texas
Walkers Mill Vineyard & Winery in Hallsville, Texas, puts muscadine grapes at the center of a visit that can stretch from lunch to an overnight stay. Its seven-acre vineyard occupies part of the 95-acre Lane Ranch in northwestern Harrison County, with nature trails running through the vines and surrounding woods. Most of the vineyard grows muscadines, grapes native to the southeastern United States; smaller plantings include Black Spanish and Blanc du Bois.
The muscadine wines give visitors more range than an all-sweet reputation might suggest. Country Lane is a dry white muscadine, Duchess is a semi-sweet red, and Angelina takes the red muscadine in a sweeter direction. Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, dry sparkling rosé, and sweet blueberry wine offer alternatives. The winery’s first bottlings date to 2020, and its harvested grapes are processed off-site rather than in an on-property production facility.
The Artisan Kitchen & Tasting Room makes a meal part of the visit, with walk-ins welcome for lunch and reservations encouraged for dinner. Friday and Saturday service extends into the evening; Sunday visits require reservations. For travelers staying overnight, the inn’s Venice Room pairs a vineyard view with a four-poster king bed and a clawfoot tub—concrete reasons to linger beyond a tasting.
