Twisted Pines Winery
Texas Mourvèdre, Sangiovese and sweeter pours at a reservation-only winery in Marshall’s Piney Woods
Best known for: Texas wines from dry Mourvèdre to sweet Moscato
Twisted Pines Winery in Marshall, Texas, gives East Texas wine travelers a reservation-only stop on the Pineywoods Wine Trail, about 15 minutes from downtown. Established in 2023, the family winery takes its name from a large, twisted pine on the nearby land where founder Victor grows up. That local connection anchors the winery’s identity, while its wines draw on grapes from across Texas.
Mourvèdre, the winery’s first release, is a dry red with dark-fruit flavors and a smoky edge. Sangiovese appears as both a red wine and a dry rosé, alongside a blend of 70% Zinfandel and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. Sweeter choices get equal attention: Moscato uses Texas High Plains grapes, Muscat Canelli comes carbonated and semi-sweet, and a sweet red blend emphasizes ripe berries and spice. The range makes this a useful option for groups split between dry reds and sweeter pours.
Visits at 398 FM 2983 run Thursday through Sunday by reservation only, with afternoon and evening availability Thursday through Saturday and an earlier finish on Sunday. This is a stop to arrange ahead, rather than a spontaneous detour from Marshall.
