Terre et Sang
Mother-and-son winery focused on single-vineyard Syrah and Grenache, with a garden tasting space in Los Olivos
Best known for: Small-production, single-vineyard Syrah and Grenache without fining or filtration
Dalita and Duncan Harmon run Terre et Sang, a small, family-owned winery in Los Olivos, California, with single-vineyard Syrah and Grenache at its core. The mother-and-son team behind the label, established in 2019, divides responsibilities between Dalita’s vineyard work and Duncan’s winemaking. A small crew handles the work in-house, without outside consultants. The emphasis is on individual vineyards rather than a single estate.
Larner Vineyard in the Ballard Canyon American Viticultural Area anchors that focus: Terre et Sang works with four southeast-facing Syrah blocks nicknamed “The Sandbox,” where deep sand lies over chalk bedrock. Other sources include Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley and Stolpman Vineyard in Ballard Canyon. The range extends beyond Syrah and Grenache to Moulds Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, Chardonnay, and a Cabernet Sauvignon–Syrah blend. The wines undergo neither fining nor filtration.
Terre et Sang on Grand, the downtown tasting space at 2982 Grand Avenue, trades the vineyard-view setup for a refurbished 1905 house with a modern lounge and an olive-shaded garden. It makes sense as a downtown stop rather than a countryside excursion. Tastings cost $30–$50 per person, with service Thursday through Monday, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome; reservations are encouraged, and parties of seven or more arrange visits by phone.
