So Far Out Winery
Organic Santa Barbara County wines with a playful streak, from chillable red to white Pinot Noir
Best known for: Organic Santa Barbara County wines, led by chillable red
So Far Out Winery focuses on organic wines made entirely from Santa Barbara County, California, fruit, with a chillable red at the heart of its identity. That red sets the tone: this is a project with more interest in trying something different than following a familiar California wine formula. This Could Be the Move turns Pinot Noir into a white wine, while Memory Palace takes on Sauvignon Blanc. Bright White and Flood Light Snow sparkling wine give the range further room beyond its red-wine roots. For drinkers curious about Pinot Noir beyond the usual red bottling, the white version is the clearest reason to pay attention.
Behind the project are Andrew Jones, Mike Testa, and Jamil Williams, whose work connects vineyard growing, winemaking, and wine retail. Jones brings the experimental bent of his Field Recordings wine brand and his work planning and planting vineyards. Testa, a fifth-generation Santa Maria farmer and partner at Coastal Vineyard Care Associates, selects the vineyards. Williams brings experience at Silverlake Wine and Amy Atwood Selections, giving the collaboration a wine-shop perspective alongside its farming and winemaking expertise.
