Amada Cellars
Los Olivos District Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc with weekend tastings in Los Alamos, California
Best known for: Los Olivos District Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc
Amada Cellars connects Los Olivos District wines with a tasting room in Los Alamos, California, in Santa Barbara County. Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc carry the Los Olivos District American Viticultural Area designation; Grenache and rosé round out the range. The Cabernet comes from the winery’s estate vineyard, giving visitors a specific place to start rather than a sprawling list of unrelated wines.
The vineyard sits along the Santa Ynez River, where slow ripening helps the grapes develop flavor while retaining acidity—the freshness that keeps a wine lively. Cabernet Sauvignon leans toward dark berries, oak and spice, while Sauvignon Blanc takes a citrus-and-tropical-fruit direction. Amada means “beloved” in Spanish, a name tied to the winery’s emphasis on caring for the land.
Tastings take place Friday through Sunday, noon to 6 p.m., at 490 Bell Street, Suite 104, with booking available. The Los Alamos address is the stop for a visit, distinct from the vineyard location. For repeat visitors, wine club options offer three, six or twelve bottles per shipment, twice yearly in March and October.
