Prairie Barn Winery & Christmas Tree Farm

Historic barn tasting room near St. James, Missouri, with vineyard suites and electric RV camping

Prairie Barn Winery & Christmas Tree Farm in St. James, Missouri, pairs complimentary Missouri wine tastings with a restoration of the former Ferrigno Vineyards property. The historic barn serves as the tasting room, three miles north of St. James Winery and just off Route 66. The draw extends beyond the glass: this is a place to stop for a tasting or settle in overnight while a piece of local wine history takes shape again.

The Vineyard Suites Bed & Breakfast occupies renovated cottage accommodations from the Ferrigno era. Suites have private entrances, individual heating and cooling, and private decks overlooking the developing vineyards and Christmas tree farm. Wine and wine slushy delivery adds a decidedly casual touch, while a home-cooked breakfast with the winemaker gives overnight guests a chance to meet the person behind the wines.

RV travelers have another option: electric campsites with 50-, 30-, and 20-amp connections. Scotch pine, white pine, and Norway spruce grow on the property, though both the tree farm and vineyards remain works in progress. Tasting room visits run Thursday through Sunday, with earlier Friday and Saturday closing times from November through February.
