Britt's Wine & Dine

House-label wines and food pairings inside the historic Old Elder School in Kilgore, East Texas

Best known for: House-label blends, Sangiovese rosé and Texas sparkling wines

Britt’s Wine & Dine in Kilgore, Texas, centers on Britt Davis, who leads guided tastings and food pairings inside the historic Old Elder School. House labels share the wine list with bottles from California, France, Italy and beyond. The draw is the chance to explore wine with someone who connects the glass to the meal, rather than treating tasting as a vocabulary test.

The house wines cover considerable ground. Jess and Judy combines Viognier, Roussanne and Riesling in a semi-dry white, while The Blonz is a dry rosé made entirely from Sangiovese. Britt’s Paramour is a Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from three California regions, including Napa. Texas-grown options include Sparkling Britt, available in sweet and dry versions from the Texas High Plains. Dear Judy, a traditional-method sparkling rosé with its bubbles created through a second fermentation in the bottle, sits outside the tasting flights.

Flights require no reservation during regular tasting room hours, with visits centered on Thursday evenings and Friday and Saturday afternoons into the evening. A seasonal dining menu gives food pairings equal billing with the wines. For celebrations and corporate gatherings, the private room seats up to 40, with guided tastings and dedicated hosting available.
