The Shenandoah Valley American Viticultural Area (AVA) is located primarily in Virginia with a small portion of the AVA located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. The region is bounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains to the east and the Allegheny Mountains to the west and is known for its relatively warm and dry growing season. Fifteen Shenandoah Valley wineries occupy the 190-mile-long AVA.
