The Review
Get away from the city and soak in the country charm at Lost Oak Winery.
The Place:  Only twenty minutes south of Fort Worth, Lost Oak Winery offers visitors an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. A down-home experience, with just the right touch of class, Lost Oak is a welcome surprise. With five acres of cultivated vineyards, shady oak trees, a babbling creek, and a wooden bridge stretched across a glimmering pond, the winery is a great place to relax for the day, enjoy some barbeque, and laugh with friends.
The winery greets guests with an air-conditioned patio area for those hot Texas summers as well as an arbor covered patio with twinkling lights strung through its beams. The winery also provides two intimate, creekside seating areas, all linked by crushed white rock paths. Guests have their pick of inviting corners to set up for the day and enjoy Lost Oaks award-winning wines.
Lost Oaks tasting room is warm and welcoming with its golden walls and dark wooden floors covered with a crimson rug. Oak barrel cocktail tables complete the cozy atmosphere. At this winery, guests feel like family.
The Experience:  Whether you bring your own picnic and spend the day or draw up a stool at the simple, layered wood tasting bar in Lost Oaks main room, you will be delighted by the down to earth, friendly staff.
Maggie welcomes guests and entertains them with stories of the winerys growth. She loves to recommend her favorite wines and will even bring you a taste of their new offerings that havent reached the tasting menu yet.
Taking a guided walking tour of the working vineyard and winery gives guests an intimate look into winemaker Jim Evans passion for all things wine. According to Jim, wine is made in the vineyard and his job is to not interfere too much.
The Wines:  Jims obsession for wine shows in Lost Oaks superb vintages. Beat that Texas heat with the crisp taste of peaches and pears in their Viognier, the winerys house favorite. Or, take home a bottle of their Blanc du Bois, a rich white wine with a hint of green apples and grapefruit for $16, exceptional for the price, or their Tempranillo, a medium-bodied red, for $24.
Insiders Tip:  At Lost Oak, Sangria Thursdays are a dont miss night of fun after 5pm. Friends come together for chips, salsa, and sangria and unwind by the creek as the sun sets. In August, dont forget Lost Oaks Harvest Fiesta. With their annual grape stomp, food, and live music, its the party of the year and doesnt stop until the last person goes home. And, if youre planning your big day, the winery was named 2010 and 2011 Best of Weddings by The Knot.
