Shamrock Hills Vineyard & Winery
Norton, Chambourcin, and Chardonel on a 323-acre farm in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, with an Irish accent
Best known for: Norton and Chambourcin reds, Chardonel, and Vignoles
Mike and Denise Riley’s Shamrock Hills Vineyard & Winery occupies a 323-acre farm rising from the Missouri River Valley in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. In business since April 2023, the winery pairs a developing estate vineyard with fruit from Mid-Missouri Vineyards. The original planting covers 11 acres, a useful distinction from the much larger farm surrounding it. Irish references run from the owners’ welcome to County Cavan Red and the annual Shenanigans in the Hills Irish festival.
The wines give dry-wine drinkers and sweet-wine fans reasons to share a table. County Cavan Red combines 60% Norton and 40% Chambourcin, with 12 months in oak, while separate Norton and Chambourcin reserves offer a closer look at each grape. Whites range from dry Valvin Muscat to off-dry Vignoles and sweet Backroads White. The lightly carbonated Vidal Blanc adds a little fizz without turning the tasting into a sparkling-wine specialty. Thirteen awards at the 2026 Missouri Governor’s Cup Wine Competition include two gold medals and two Best of Class honors.
Visits fit a Friday-through-Sunday schedule, with Saturday service running from noon to 7 p.m. Standard bottles generally cost $21–$25, and most reserves run $29–$35. For travelers extending the outing, the property’s Shamrock Ranch also offers a vacation rental cabin.
