Mathany Family Vineyards

Family-owned Lake of the Ozarks winery making wines and hard ciders entirely from Missouri fruit

Best known for: Sweet-to-dry wines and hard ciders from Missouri fruit

Mathany Family Vineyards in Lake Ozark, Missouri, pairs a strictly Missouri-grown wine and cider program with free tastings and a full food menu. Owners Jedidiah “Jed” and Jackie Mathany run the 10,000-square-foot winery at the Lake of the Ozarks, with wines ranging from sweet whites to dry reds. Hard ciders use Missouri apples, and all wine and cider production takes place on the property.

Jed brings vineyard and winery experience from California, New Zealand, Australia, and France to the family's Missouri operation. The vineyard's roots reach back to a 2015 property purchase at Bear Creek, with the first vintage dating to 2019. Sustainable vineyard practices are central to the Mathanys' farming approach, but the emphasis at the tasting room is on enjoying a glass rather than mastering wine vocabulary.

For mixed groups, the appeal goes beyond wine: craft beer, slushies, lunch, and dinner give non-wine drinkers reasons to settle in, too. Families are welcome, with board games available. The winery opens six days a week, closes Wednesdays, and stays open until 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays—a useful option for a lake-weekend dinner stop.
