Edge of the Lake Vineyard & Winery
Family-owned vineyard beside Lake Ray Roberts, with 15 acres of Tempranillo, Grenache and Albariño
Best known for: Texas-grown wines, including estate Tempranillo and Grenache
Edge of the Lake Vineyard & Winery in Valley View, Texas, pairs a lakeside setting with wines that merit attention beyond the view. The family-owned property's 100 acres include 15 acres of vines, with Tempranillo, Grenache and Albariño growing beside Lake Ray Roberts. The focus is entirely on Texas wine, from estate reds to whites and Texas Hog Wash Rosé.
Tempranillo is a particular draw, with both estate and bourbon-barrel versions. The 2023 Estate Tempranillo holds gold and Best of Texoma honors from the 2026 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, while the 2023 Petit Verdot carries that competition's platinum medal. The range gives visitors reason to explore beyond familiar grapes rather than treating the tasting as a prelude to the patio.
Indoor tastings cost $18–$30, and the first-come, first-served patio accommodates glasses, bottles and food rather than tasting flights. For a more focused visit, the Library occupies Dr. Cummings's former home office and hosts four to eight guests for six wines and small bites, at $50 per person. Weekends often fill one or two weeks ahead; Thursday evenings and Friday afternoons are usually quieter. Families are welcome, but visiting pets stay home except for service animals.
