Ampelos Cellars

Holistic vineyard practices in a historic tasting room

Best known for: Organic, sustainable, and biodynamic wines

Ampelos Cellars is located in the Sta. Rita Hills of Santa Barbara wine country. They are known for their commitment to sustainable, organic, and biodynamic farming practices.

Founded in 1999, Ampelos was the first winery in the United States to be certified in all three of these practices. Their approach to viticulture is holistic and respectful of the environment.

Their philosophy is summed up in the Amish proverb, "We did not inherit this land from our fathers – it is on loan to us from our children." This highlights their focus on environmental stewardship and living in harmony with nature.

Visitors can taste their wines at the tasting room located in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto. There, they can learn more about the winemaking process and the winery’s sustainability efforts.
