The Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley is located two miles north of the town of Napa and has one of Napa Valley’s coolest climates. The appellations somewhat unwieldy name is a result of the appellation approval process and the need to distinguish the region from the Oak Knoll Winery in Oregon’s Chehalem Mountains. The relatively large AVA, 8,300 acres, is home to over a dozen red and white varieties with Merlot, Chardonnay and Cabernet being the most widely planted.
