The 2500 acre Calistoga AVA, established in 2010, is contained within the larger Napa Valley AVA and is Napa Valley’s northernmost AVA. As a result, the AVA has the highest daytime temperatures of any Napa Valley AVA. The Calistoga AVA abuts the Diamond Mountain District AVA to the southwest, the Knights Valley AVA to the northwest, and the Saint Helena AVA to the south. Grapes have been grown in the area since the mid-19th century, and the AVA contains several historic wineries and vineyards to include Chateau Montelena and the Eisele Vineyard.
