Yellow House Cellars

Estate-grown Texas wines from 65 acres of vines southwest of New Home in the High Plains

Best known for: Texas estate-grown Tempranillo, Sangiovese, and distinctive white varieties

Yellow House Cellars, southwest of New Home, Texas, makes every bottle from grapes grown at its own Kubacak Vineyards. For visitors interested in the connection between vineyard and glass, the draw is unusually direct: the tasting room sits on the farm, with the vines supplying the label right outside.

CJ and Jennifer Kubacak are the growers behind the operation. Their vineyard story begins with five acres in 2015 and now extends across 65 acres; Yellow House Cellars dates to 2021. The wines range from Tempranillo and Sangiovese to Sangiovese rosé, Picpoul Blanc, Grüner Veltliner, and Roussanne. The vineyard also grows Graciano, Petit Manseng, Riesling, and Gewürztraminer, giving this West Texas property a broader grape roster than Cabernet and Merlot alone.

A visit requires Sunday planning: the tasting room opens only on Sundays, from 1 to 6 p.m., at 374 FM 1317 in Tahoka. The vineyard setting is the reason to make the drive, particularly for travelers who want to see where their Texas wine actually grows. For repeat visitors, the wine club offers complimentary tastings and 20 percent off wine.
