Whalebone Winery
Cozy tasting barn amid limestone-rich mountain vineyards
Best known for: Exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon and unique blends
Whalebone Vineyard was established in 1989 by the Simpson family and is located in the Santa Lucia Mountain Range west of Paso Robles, California. The vineyard covers 128 acres and is known for producing high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, along with raising Angus cattle.
The unique terroir, with its coastal climate and limestone-rich soils, plays a key role in creating outstanding wines. The name "Whalebone" comes from actual whalebones that were discovered during the planting of the vines.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and the cult favorite BOB WINE, at the inviting Whalebone Tasting Barn. The winery provides a relaxed atmosphere for tastings, welcomes walk-ins, and allows guests to picnic on the premises.
