The Rusty Spur Winery & Bistro
Mother-and-daughter-owned winery and bistro pairing Texas-grown wines with a Western theme near Nacogdoches
Best known for: Wines made exclusively from Texas-grown grapes
The Rusty Spur Winery & Bistro brings 100% Texas-grown wines and a Western theme to East Texas, seven miles west of Nacogdoches off FM 343. Mother-and-daughter owners Sherry Key and Morgan Weems are the people behind the business, whose roots date to 2020, with a transition from boutique retail and deli service toward a winery and bistro beginning in spring 2022. Their shared love of Westerns carries through to the atmosphere and the names of dishes on the menu.
The appeal is a wine-and-food stop rather than a tasting alone. Flights cost $15 for three wines or $20 for five, and paninis give visitors a reason to linger over lunch or an early supper. Charcuterie boards require more planning: orders need at least 48 hours’ notice and payment in advance.
The tasting room welcomes walk-ins Tuesday through Saturday, with afternoon openings on Tuesday and Wednesday and noon starts Thursday through Saturday. Tastings and panini orders finish 30 minutes before the 8 p.m. close. Groups of 10 or more arrange their visit directly with the winery.
Tasting Hours
