Structure Cellars - Tacoma Tasting Room
Structure Cellars’ Theatre District tasting room in Tacoma, Washington, with six-wine flights and evening hours
Best known for: Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Rhône-style blends
Structure Cellars’ Tacoma Tasting Room puts wine tasting in the Theatre District at 632 St. Helens Avenue, near South 7th Street. This is the city stop rather than the vineyard outing: six-wine tastings rotate weekly, reservations are available, and Thursday-through-Saturday service runs until 9 p.m. Those evening hours make it a useful option for wine drinkers who prefer not to build their entire day around a tasting.
Behind Structure Cellars are Brian Grasso and Brandee Slosar, whose winery traces its roots to a licensed basement operation in their Ballard home in 2011. The Tacoma location, open since 2023, extends that Seattle-born business south. The architectural naming carries through to the bottles: Oculus Viognier, Piloti Cabernet Franc, Bauhaus Syrah and Craftsman Cabernet Sauvignon. The Foundation series adds Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and a Rhône-style blend.
The appeal here is the combination of a downtown address and enough variety to give a group different directions to explore. Viognier provides a white-wine option alongside several reds, while the changing tasting selection gives repeat visitors a reason to return. The Tacoma room also accommodates private events.
