Stonehaus Winery

Historic winery rooted in Tennessee’s wine legacy

Best known for: Tennessee's only winery with statewide distribution

Stonehaus Winery, located in Crossville, Tennessee, has been an important part of the state's wine scene since it opened in 1991.

It was founded by Fay Wheeler and Robert R. Ramsey, and was one of the first wineries in Tennessee to distribute wines across the entire state.

The winery’s history is closely tied to the local community and Tennessee’s agricultural roots. Fay Wheeler is often called the "grandfather of Tennessee wine" for his key role in helping pass the Tennessee Wine and Grape Act in 1977. This law made it legal to produce wine in Tennessee and helped start the state's growing wine industry.

Stonehaus Winery started with just five wines made from twenty-five tons of grapes. Over the years, it has grown a lot, now using modern winemaking techniques and equipment to meet increasing demand.

The winery focuses on quality and community, offering visitors a chance to enjoy some of the best southern wines in a scenic and welcoming setting.
