Rio Neches Estate Winery

Ten-acre family vineyard in Tyler, Texas, growing Bordeaux varieties alongside Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, and Sangiovese

Best known for: Varietal wines, Bordeaux blends, and sweet rosé

Rio Neches Estate Winery in Tyler, Texas, is a family-owned operation with a ten-acre vineyard and Sydney Dacus at the helm as owner and head winemaker. Her winemaking experience includes two summers at Kiepersol Winery, and she holds an enology certification alongside a doctorate in physical therapy. Mason Dacus manages the vineyard, bringing a biomedical engineering background and Cornell enology certification to the work. The East Texas planting spans a substantial range: Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Viognier, Sangiovese, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Carignan, and Rubi Red.

The wine selection is similarly broad, with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio alongside Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Bordeaux and Super Texan blends, and both dry and sweet rosés. Each wine carries a dedication to someone important to the family—a personal thread running through the bottles. Visits center on tastings and small-group tours, with a private tasting room available to reserve for small gatherings. Public openings are limited rather than daily, making advance confirmation important before a drive to the County Road 418 property. Private-event inquiries go directly to the winery.
