Purgatory Cellars
Traditional Georgian amphora winemaking experience
Best known for: The only amphora winery in Colorado
Purgatory Cellars Winery is located in Parker, Colorado, and is known as the only amphora winery in the state. It was founded in 2014 by Croatian winemakers, who brought traditional Georgian amphora techniques to Colorado.
The winery is dedicated to producing high-quality wines, with the amphora method adding complexity and unique flavors to their offerings. About 90% of the grapes used are sourced from local Colorado growers, which helps connect the wines to the local terroir.
Purgatory Cellars has earned several awards over the years, including medals from the Finger Lakes International Wine & Spirits Competition. Visitors are encouraged to stop by to taste the wines, explore the winery, and see the amphora equipment and techniques up close. It’s a popular spot for both locals and visitors alike.
