Papagni Wines
Historic family winery crafting small-batch, handcrafted wines
Best known for: Alicante Bouschet and small lot wines
Papagni Wines has a storied history that spans over a century, originating from Bari, Italy. The Papagni family's dedication to grape-growing and winemaking led to the establishment of a state-of-the-art winery in Madera, California, in 1973.
Known for being the first to utilize stainless steel tanks, the winery produces high-quality varietal wines from specific grape types rather than blends. Papagni Wines is particularly renowned for its Alicante Bouschet, a deep and flavorful wine that was once the most popular grape variety in America.
The winery focuses on crafting small lot, hand-crafted wines, including their signature Alicante Bouschet, Chardonnay, Cabernet, and Pinot Grigio, which are available exclusively in their tasting room and select local restaurants.
