Orfila Vineyards & Winery

Intimate tasting room amid scenic San Pasqual Valley

Best known for: Artisanal, small-batch handcrafted wines

Orfila Vineyards and Winery was founded in 1994 by Alejandro Orfila, a former Argentine ambassador. It’s a boutique winery located in the scenic San Pasqual Valley of Escondido, California.

The winery has become a notable player in Southern California’s wine scene, known for its small-batch, handcrafted wines. It spans over 70 acres, with about 40 acres planted with top-quality grape varieties. The estate benefits from a Mediterranean-like microclimate, which helps produce high-quality grapes.

Orfila’s estate vineyards grow varietals such as Syrah, Sangiovese, Merlot, Viognier, and Montepulciano. The winery also sources grapes from well-regarded regions like Happy Canyon and Santa Rita Hills.

Under the guidance of winemaker Andrew Wisniewski, the winery's wines have continued to improve, emphasizing sustainability and innovative winemaking techniques. Besides its wines, Orfila is known for its friendly atmosphere, curated events, and stunning views of the San Pasqual Valley. It’s a popular spot for wine lovers and those looking to host events.
