Naumes Suncrest Winery in Talent, Oregon: farmhouse tastings amid 20 acres of Rogue Valley estate vineyards

Best known for: Rogue Valley Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Tempranillo

Naumes Suncrest Winery in Talent, Oregon, pairs Rogue Valley wines with a tasting room in a farmhouse that remains in the Naumes family for generations. Twenty acres of estate vineyards surround the property, and the open interior and outdoor deck give visitors room to settle in with views across the valley. The farmhouse and working agricultural setting are the draw here, not just the tasting glass.

The Naumes family’s Southern Oregon farming roots stretch back more than a century through pear and apple orchards. Its move into winegrowing dates to 2013, with the conversion of an apple orchard into six acres of Pinot Noir. Today, the family’s Rogue Valley vineyards also grow Grenache, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. Winemaker Dustin Andries, an Oregon State University Fermentation Sciences graduate, oversees wines that also span Tempranillo and Viognier.

Weekend live music, pottery and painting classes, and special food pairings make this more than a stop for a quick tasting. Reservations are encouraged, particularly in peak season; large groups arrange their visit by phone. The tasting room opens Thursday through Monday and stays open until 7 p.m., leaving time for a late-afternoon glass on the deck.
