Malaga Springs Winery
Sustainable straw bale buildings amid basalt cliffs
Best known for: Handcrafted wines from unique grape varieties
Malaga Springs Winery is nestled along the steep rocky slopes of the Columbia River, at the base of magnificent basalt columns.
As one of the smallest wineries in Washington state, it prides itself on meticulous care of its grapes and wines, employing non-disruptive farming techniques that reflect the unique soils and climate of the region.
The winery's history is intertwined with the area's past, as it seeks to revive grape varieties from the original stock planted over a century ago.
Founded by Kathy and Al Mathews, the winery features sustainable straw bale buildings and a dedicated tasting room that showcases the beauty of the natural environment surrounding it.
