MacDonald Vineyards

Historic vineyard setting with organic farming practices

Best known for: Historic To-Kalon Vineyard wines

MacDonald Vineyards is located in the Oakville benchlands of Napa Valley. It has a long history and family tradition, with the property being in the MacDonald family since 1954.

Originally, the land was part of the famous To-Kalon Vineyard, known for making award-winning wines. For over sixty years, the grapes from the vineyard were sold exclusively to Robert Mondavi. These grapes contributed to some of the region’s top wines, including the Reserve and early Opus One bottlings.

The vineyard is characterized by rocky outcrops and well-drained alluvial gravels. These conditions help the Cabernet Sauvignon vines thrive and showcase the unique terroir of the land.

The MacDonald family practices organic farming to preserve the vineyard's biodiversity and natural beauty. They focus on minimal intervention in the winemaking process to let the wines truly reflect the character and energy of the site.
