Lucky Vines Vineyard & Winery
Family-owned vineyard in Dublin, Texas, with estate-grown Syrah, medal-winning Montepulciano, and an on-site brewery
Best known for: Estate-grown Syrah and reds including Tempranillo and Montepulciano
Lucky Vines Vineyard & Winery in Dublin, Texas, brings together a family-run vineyard, tasting room, and an on-site beer option from Lucky Brewing Co. Owners Jeff and Kimberly Hutchins balance the business with careers outside wine: Jeff practices emergency medicine, while Kimberly flies for Southwest Airlines and handles winery operations, from staffing and inventory to sales and bookkeeping. It is a hands-on family enterprise rather than an anonymous tasting-room brand.
The wines give red-wine drinkers several reasons to pay attention, including estate-grown Syrah, Tempranillo, Montepulciano, and Dolcetto. The 2018 Montepulciano holds a Double Gold and top-of-class distinction from the 2020 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Wine Competition. The 2019 Beginner’s Luck Estate Grown Syrah carries a silver medal from the same competition’s 2021 edition.
At 675 County Road 497, a visit leaves room for a stroll around the grounds as well as wine tasting. The emphasis is on finding a wine that suits the drinker, not testing anyone’s vocabulary. Lucky Brewing Co. gives beer-preferring companions a reason to come along, and the property also accommodates private celebrations.
