Little Vine Vineyards
Historic winery reviving Georgia’s gold rush wine heritage
Best known for: Reviving Georgia's wine tradition
Little Vine Vineyards and Winery, located in Villa Rica, Carroll County, Georgia, is on a mission to revive the tradition of fine wines that flourished in Western Georgia during the 1890s. This area was once a significant center for vineyards and wineries, boasting around 20,000 acres of grape cultivation before the onset of prohibition.
The winery is notable for being the first constructed in West Central Georgia in over a century, with the first commercial wine grapes planted in the region since 1907. The owners, Jerry and Sherrie Culver, began their journey in 2010, preparing the soil and planting their first grapes in March 2011.
The initial harvest in 2013 yielded approximately 9.5 tons of grapes, marking a significant milestone in their endeavor. Subsequent years saw increased yields, with 25 tons harvested in 2015, showcasing the winery's growth and the community's involvement in the process.
Little Vine Vineyards aims to reestablish the golden era of winemaking in Villa Rica, a town historically known for its gold rush in 1826.
