Flying Dutchman Winery

Coastal-inspired winemaking with ocean-view picnic spots

Best known for: Unique wines from Oregon Coast

Flying Dutchman Winery, established in 1997, is a small family-owned operation located in a beautiful spot on the Oregon Coast. The winery was started by Richard Cutler in the restaurant of the Inn at Otter Crest and is known as Oregon's first micro-winery.

It quickly gained recognition when its first vintage of Pinot Noir won a medal at the 1999 Oregon State Fair. Since then, Flying Dutchman wines have received many awards and are well-regarded in the Northwest.

Because of the coastal climate, the winery sources grapes from five notable Oregon vineyards, as the local weather doesn’t support grape growing on-site. The winemaking process involves unique techniques influenced by the salt air and cooler temperatures, which help create distinctive flavors.

Visitors can enjoy a picnic area with ocean views, and there’s also a gift shop offering wine-related and nautical gifts.
