Dove Ridge Vineyard
Hilltop vineyard and wedding venue in Weatherford, Texas, with nine-plus acres of six grape varieties
Best known for: Hillside-grown Sangiovese, Dolcetto, Montepulciano, Picpoul Blanc and Vermentino
Dove Ridge Vineyard in Weatherford, Texas, pairs a working hillside vineyard with a wedding and event venue on 56 acres, roughly 30 minutes from downtown Fort Worth. Owners Joey and Janan Benefiel bring complementary interests to the property: his vegetable gardening and home winemaking, her floral design and nursery experience. The hilltop setting is the draw, with views across Parker and Tarrant counties and, on clear days, downtown Fort Worth.
More than nine acres of vines grow on the rocky, limestone-rich slopes. Six varieties share the vineyard: Sangiovese, Picpoul Blanc, Dolcetto, Montepulciano, Petite Sirah and Vermentino. Those tiered hillside plantings give the property more substance than a wedding venue with a few decorative rows of grapes. Winery guests can also stroll among the vines.
The event spaces make the most of the elevation: an open-air ceremony point above the treetops, a covered patio, and a reception hall with nearly floor-to-ceiling west-facing windows for sunset views. Private venue tours are available by arrangement. Dove Ridge Vineyard is the vineyard and event property; Dove Ridge Winery is its separately named winery operation.
