Damas Vineyards

Sustainable farming in a historic hillside vineyard

Best known for: Estate-grown Zinfandel and sustainable practices

Damas Vineyards is located in Fiddletown, California, within one of the smallest designated American Viticultural Areas in the United States. This region is known for its historic Zinfandel vineyards, which were planted by European immigrants during the Gold Rush in the 1850s.

The vineyard was established in 1998 and covers two acres on a southwest-facing slope. Its elevation of approximately 2,000 feet allows it to benefit from warm, sunny days and cool nights. This unique spot lets the vineyard thrive above the fog and below the snow line, ensuring plenty of sunshine for growing grapes.

Being a small vineyard, Damas Vineyards can stay hands-on with grape cultivation, often working with friends and family. They practice sustainable farming and follow organic methods to protect the environment and keep their wines safe for consumers.

While they focus mainly on estate-grown Zinfandel, Damas Vineyards also works with nearby vineyards in the Sierra foothills. This allows them to offer a variety of wines, including white and rosé options.

The winery has partnered with experienced winemakers to produce high-quality wines at reasonable prices, making them a good choice for everyday drinking.
