Blanchard Family Wines is the creation of brothers James and Mark Blanchard, who share a passion for fine wines. Headquartered in Healdsburg, California's Sonoma County wine country, the brothers opened their Denver tasting room in the Dairy Block development to bring their award-winning wines to Colorado.
The winery focuses on limited-production, hand-crafted artisan wines sourced from top Sonoma Valley vineyards. James, who served in the Air Force and settled in Colorado, partnered with brother Mark, who remained in California pursuing winemaking opportunities, to establish their family winery. They work with respected Sonoma winemaker Jene Chapanar to produce wines including Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, and Rosé.
What distinguishes the Denver location is its innovative wine-on-tap service. Eight Blanchard selections are served directly from taps, eliminating oxidation and light exposure to guarantee peak freshness with every pour. This sustainable approach significantly reduces the winery's carbon footprint while maintaining wine quality. The tasting room also features a carefully curated selection of Colorado wines from both Western Slope and Front Range producers.
Located in the vibrant Dairy Block micro-district just two blocks from Coors Field, the tasting room offers walk-in tastings, wine flights, bottles for purchase, and food pairings featuring local cheese and charcuterie. The intimate barrel room provides a private event space perfect for special occasions. The location's proximity to Union Station and downtown attractions makes it easily accessible via public transit or walking from downtown hotels.
The Blanchards select premium fruit and adhere to a classic winemaking philosophy, with each wine reflecting the unique characteristics of its vineyard, varietal, and vintage through gentle winemaking techniques and respect for sustainable practices.
