Birichino
Historic vineyards and hands-on craftsmanship
Best known for: Low intervention fine wines from cool climes
Established in 2008, Birichino is a Santa Cruz-based winery dedicated to crafting low intervention fine wines.
The winery sources grapes from historic vineyards, including 19th and early 20th-century vines, and a few from the Late Disco era.
Founders Alex Krause and John Locke bring decades of winemaking experience from California, France, and Italy, focusing on minimal intervention techniques to highlight the unique terroir of each vineyard.
Birichino's wines reflect a balance of perfume, poise, and puckishness, emphasizing quality and authenticity in every bottle.
Visitors are welcomed to their tasting room to experience their exceptional offerings firsthand.
