Bella Luna Winery

Family-owned estate with hands-on craftsmanship

Best known for: Dry-farmed, head-trained Sangiovese vineyard

Bella Luna Estate Winery is located in the beautiful hills of the Templeton Gap District. It’s a family-owned place that’s been making small-lot wines for over 25 years.

The winery was started in 1998 by lifelong friends Kevin Healey and Sherman Smoot. They focus on quality rather than quantity, and have been recognized as 'Small Producer of the Year.'

The estate’s vineyard, Carly’s Vineyard, is dry-farmed and features grapes like Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Ruby Cabernet. This method allows the vines to draw deep nutrients from the soil, which adds to the wines’ richness and character.

Bella Luna takes a hands-on, minimalist approach to winemaking. Every grape is hand-picked, and each vintage is carefully crafted. They aim to create a personal and memorable experience for visitors.

Guests are encouraged to feel like part of the family when they visit, as the winery combines Old World traditions with innovative techniques to produce its wines.
