Chenin Blanc

Chenin Blanc, a native of France’s Loire Valley, is able to grow in several different soil types and in climates that are too hot for many other varieties. It is also a dependable producer and, as a result, has traditionally been used in the U.S. as a blending grape and to produce indistinguishable bulk wine. Fortunately, various regions in France and select U.S. producers have shown that with appropriate viticulture practices, Chenin Blanc can produce exceptional dry, desert and sparkling wines. Chenin Blanc has naturally high acidity and in moderate climates and chalky soil types produces a very crisp, complex and earthy wine.
