The Swan Creek AVA, established in 2002, is partly contained within the Yadkin Valley AVA. The AVA is distinguished from the larger Yadkin Valley AVA by its loamy soil consisting of schist and mica and its slightly cooler temperatures. All Swan Creek wineries provide wine tasting opportunities.
