The Redwood Valley, comprised of the northern portion of the Ukiah Valley, is located immediately northwest of Lake Mendocino and is about nine miles north of Ukiah. There are approximately thirteen wineries within six miles of each other, making it relatively easy to enjoy the best of Redwood Valley winemaking. In June, Redwood Valley hosts its two day wine, food and music festival “A Taste of Redwood Valley.” The region’s high altitude and slightly cooler average temperatures result in a long growing season and wines with slightly more acidity than those made in Napa and Sonoma. Wineries located outside Redwood Valley, such as Rosenblum Cellars and JC Cellars, also produce highly rated wines using Redwood Valley grapes.
