Mount Veeder is located in the southwest corner of Napa Valley in the Mayacamas Mountains at altitudes of 600 to 2100 feet. Similar to other Napa mountain locations, Mt. Veeder has warmer nights and cooler days than the valley floor. Mount Veeder is one of the few Napa Valley appellations that produces both award winning reds and whites. Mt. Veeder is home to approximately ten wineries, about half of which are open by appointment. In addition, numerous other wineries make exceptional wine using Mt. Veeder fruit. Some of the most successful include Lokoya (Cabernet Sauvignon), Peter Franus (Zinfandel), Jade Mountain (Syrah), and Kendall-Jackson (Cabernet Sauvignon). Mount Veeder red wines are typically firmly structured, ripe, rich and full-bodied displaying cassis, mineral, black licorice, spice, black fruit and black currant flavors.
