The Lodi AVA is located between Sacramento and Stockton at the northern tip of the San Joaquin Valley. The area receives is cooled by ocean and bay breezes and has a medium climate with warm days and cool night. The large Lodi AVA encompasses seven smaller AVAs: Alta Mesa, Borden Ranch, Clements Hills, Cosumnes River, Jahant, Mokelumne River and Sloughhouse. In addition to having some of the oldest Zinfandel vines in the U.S., Lodi is starting to establish itself as a quality producer of Viognier.
